The House of Versace has many fragrances for both men and women, but most of its fragrances for men are known as “blue” fragrances, meaning they are mostly reminiscent of the ocean. Eros is one of Versace’s boldest scents and is instantly recognizable. Developed in 2012 under the direction of Donatella Versace, who took over the brand’s creative leadership after her brother Gianni Versace’s death in 1997, it emerged as one of Versace’s signature scents. It’s fresh and clean, but slightly warm and definitely stands out in a crowd. Its top notes are very strong, bright, and energetic with hints of lemon, green apple, and mint, but its middle notes are what really stand out, as this is the aroma that really lasts throughout the day, heavy with Lavender and Geranium. What remains at the end of the day are very warm and sexy masculine notes like Vanilla, Tonka Bean, and Amber, giving it a very smooth and seductive base. It’s very strong and noticeable, so it’s not exactly a casual fragrance, but perfect for date night. It has a salty undertone that evokes the sea, and sometimes I can almost feel the sand beneath my feet when I wear this fragrance, making Eros a very sensual experience.
