Radiance Aroma Review

Tom Ford Ombre Leather

Leather is a rather common note used in way more fragrances than I had ever realized, and it’s a scent that I really do enjoy. It has a sexy, luxuriousness to it, like an expensive leather jacket or a brand new car. Most of the time, it’s very subdued and is merely complementary to all the other notes that make up a fragrance, but Tom Ford’s Ombre Leather brings it front and center, placing leather on the main stage for all to enjoy.  I love wearing leather, and I love the smell of leather; therefore, this was a fragrance that I was instantly drawn to. Originally released by Tom Ford in 2016, it was part of his exclusive Private Blend line, but a reinterpretation was released in 2018, made specifically for his Signature Line. It was redesigned to be more accessible while still keeping that high-end, niche style character. In all honesty, Ombre Leather is a very linear fragrance, meaning that what you originally smell is what you’ll get for the rest of the day. Its top notes are really no different from the ones you’ll get later on. Most scents where leather is the main note of the fragrance can be a little harsh and somehwhat salty, but Ombre Leather is smoothed out with notes of Jasmine, Amber, and Patchouli to give it a softer, warmer feel, reminding one about how wearing leather is literally a very skin-on-skin experience, natural, earthy, and extremely animalistic, hence making this fragrance a truly sensual olfactory experience.
