Chanel launched the original Chance fragrance in 2003 as a younger, brighter, more playful contrast to the house\u2019s traditionally formal fragrances, creating something more innovative and contemporary while remaining unmistakably Chanel. The name \u201cChance\u201d was inspired by Gabrielle Chanel\u2019s belief that chance favors those who create opportunities for themselves. The round bottle was also a deliberate departure from traditional square designs, symbolizing movement, energy, and unpredictability. Chance has a bright and peppery opening with Pineapple, and Pink Pepper, while its drydown becomes muskier with Patchouli and Vanilla. \u00a0The core of this scent is all floral, though, consisting of Hyacinth, Iris, and Jasmine. Over the years, Chance has extended into a line of four separate fragrances. There\u2019s Chance Eau Tendre, which is a fragrance that feels slightly more feminine, with its soft fruity-floral notes. Chance Eau Fraiche, which feels much more unisex, with its balance of fresh, citrusy notes. Chance Eau Vive, a brighter, more sparkling version of the original, and finally the recently released Chance Eau Splendide, which feels more accentuated toward the mature woman, brimming with Lilac. But of all the Chance scents, the original feels the most solid and could easily be worn by a man, not necessarily masculine, but definitely the most robust and sturdy of the entire Chance line. A personal favorite that certainly gives Chanel an exciting and modern addition to its collection.
